Quite often when people move into a new area they may need a good veterinarian before anything else, in order to deal with pets which may have been traumatized by the move. There is no better place in this area to take your pets than The Veterinary Care Specialists clinic and VCS Pet Hospital just north of town at 205 Rowe Rd in Milford Twp. One really good feature of their service is that they are open 24 hours a day, 365 days of the year. You can call at 248-684-0468.

There are other vets in the area, lots of them in fact; however, none offer the hours of operation or the range of services that Veterinary Care Specialists and VCS Pet Hospital offer.

The VCS Pet Hospital is set up and staffed to offer extensive surgical services for your pets. Including orthopedic surgery and neurosurgery. The clinic also offers neurological services to deal with pet epilepsy or seizers. Dr Hass is an expert at veterinary epilepsy and other neurological disorders of pets. In addition the clinic offers a holistic approach to your pet’s care with both traditional veterinary care and non-traditional or alternative services including Veterinary Acupuncture and Reike Therapy.

The clinic also offers microchipping services for pets, should they get lost and their owners need to be contacted. For both dogs and cats Veterinary Care Specialists offers Wellness programs that include all of the required shots and medicines to ensure your pet’s health. They also offer pet boarding services.

Veterinary Care Specialists & VCS Pet Hospital was founded in 1997 by Julie Hass, DVM, MS and Peter Barnes, Hospital Director. The clinic/hospital staff includes Jacqueline J Mair, DVM, MBA, Diplomate of ACVS and Stephanie Schmidt, DVM. There are also several Veterinary Technicians and assistants (see the VCS Web site for more on the staff).

Peter and Julie are married and are quite active in the local community. They have been especially supportive of the Community Sharing Pet Food Pantry that supplies pet food for over 500 pets a month that otherwise might go hungry. They are big supporters of the YMCA Strong Kids program and very active in Chamber of Commerce activities.
