Milford, Michigan is located on the east side of the state in the south, near Detroit. It is  in Oakland County. Milford Township is one of the townships that border Livingston County to the west. In Michigan, most townships are 6 miles on a side.

As you can see, it is northwest of Detroit and north of Ann Arbor. The closest highways are I-96 which is south of the Village and M-59, which is north of the Village.

From I-96, one would take Milford Road north to get to the Village. You would be in Milford township almost the entire way. The Village of Milford is just far enough off the highway - about 6 miles - that it has not been spoiled by the developments that grow up at highway exits. It is also just far enough “out in the country” to retain that small town feel, but close enough that everything anyone would need is convenient.

Milford road actually passes right through the Village south to north, but it is called Main Street while in most of the Village limits. Other main roads into and out of the Village are Commerce, which passes through the Village from east to west, General Motors Road, which leads out to the GM Proving Grounds (thus the name) and Wixom Road, which leads to Wixom, Michigan is called Atlantic St in the Village.

The Village of Milford is bisected by the Huron River, with most of the Village to the north side of the river. The south side is actually the older part of the Village. As with many small towns and villages, Main Street is the main street through town. There are five lights within the Village. As Milford road comes into the Village, it is called GM Rd for a short stretch, then Main Street and then it turns back into Milford Rd as it exits the downtown area.
