Then there are the concerts in Central Park during the summer months, and, a short drive away, the 4th of July fireworks at Kensington and at Camp Dearborn and the Detroit Symphony Orchestra’s annual visit to Kensington Metro park. There always seems to be something for the family to do.

And now let’s talk about restaurants. If you were standing in the middle of downtown Milford, you could easily walk to 17 of the 31 restaurants that are in the Village. We have everything from Coney Islands, to family restaurants to upscale fine dining right here in Milford. In fact, the restaurant named “Best in Detroit” for 2005 is our own Five Lakes Grill, right downtown. What makes this so special is the fact that you can walk to all of them and many of our residents do just that. We have three “destination restuarants” in town – Five Lakes Grill, Appeteaser and Gravity. Another thing that people seem to see and like in Milford is the great variety of affordable housing, especially those that are within walking distance to downtown. Let’s start with our historic homes. We have grand old houses that were built in the mid-1800’s by prosperous merchants and we have modest old homes built by workers. Sizes run from under 1,000 Sq Ft to over 3,000 Sq Ft.. Our more modern homes (built after 1930) run the gambit from the nice 1,000 Sq Ft ranches built in the 50’s and 60’s right through to new builds that are still being built within the Village limits today. Prices range from $500-600K for large, well updated and upgraded historic homes, through $250-450 for modern homes, down to well below $200K for homes that are smaller or might need some work. Lastly, we have great infrastructure, great schools, a wonderful library and a new YMCA that has tons of good programs for families, lots of churches to choose from and a great park on the banks of the Huron River. Most Milford neighborhoods have sidewalks, so walking downtown is relatively easy.

The local business and community groups, like the Huron Valley Chamber of Commerce, the Milford Downtown Development Authority, the Huron Valley Business Association, The Milford Historical Society and the Veterans of Foreign Wars are all very active and involved in the community and sponsor many of the parades and events.  And almost all of this is within walking distance from the majority of the homes in the Village.
